Action Therapy Model

Empowering Youth Through Mentorship and Community Engagement is the main objective of this model. Action Therapy is a transformative therapeutic mentorship program dedicated to empowering youth through a holistic approach. Action Therapy can look different depending on the provider and their vision.

My model focuses on fostering positive relationships, volunteerism, indigenous cultural activities, paid work experience, community building, and wrap-around support for youth and their families. I work closely with each individual to meet them where they are and design a model that works for them.

As a settler, it has been important for me to build connections with Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Holders to connect youth with and learn about ceremony and Indigenous ways of being and knowing. I recognize the impacts of colonization and centre anti-oppressive and anti-colonial measures into my practice by actively seeking to incorporate indigenous perspectives and practices.

By working closely with youth, I aim to build strong bonds that promote personal growth and development. Through mentorship, I provide guidance and support, encouraging youth to discover their strengths, explore new opportunities, and overcome challenges. Through a therapeutic mentorship model, I aim to empower youth to navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and achieve their goals. By fostering a sense of belonging, connection, and cultural identity, I aim to inspire positive change within individuals and their communities.

A good fit between client and therapist is key for successful therapy. Trust, empathy, and understanding create a safe space for open communication. Together, we can explore concerns, goals, and foster growth through active listening and collaboration.
